ASPCA Animal Cruelty Commercial

                                                    https://www.ispot.tv/ad/7VSI/aspca-neglect-and-abused-animals

In 2007, Sarah McLachlan released a commercial talking about the animal abuse that animals endure every day. It had a sad song and had really cute sad puppies and kittens. This commercial was all over tv and I have a distinct memory of talking about it with my friends on the bus on the way to school. We could not believe that people would want to hurt such cute animals. I still think about this commercial to this day, and how sad it made me feel. There were times when I would walk out of the room during it because I hated how sad it made me. Sarah McLachlan ended up making $30 million dollars in the first two years of this commercial! Why is this? Why did so many people feel so touches by this commercial and feel the need to donate to her cause? Do not get me wrong, it's a great cause, but she did not make that commercial just to get the word out. She knew what she was doing, and it worked.

The part of the brain that this commercial stimulates is the limbic system. The part of the limbic system that senses emotion is the amygdala, which is why people felt so touched and wanted to send money to the organization. Once we see little sad animals, we almost HAVE to feel sad! Not to mention the sad music that goes along with the commercial. Our brain sees sad puppies, hears sad songs, and then it is processed into emotions.

Now that we are all sad from this commercial, here are some memes I found on the subject to lighten the mood :)
